Employment Screening Company Leadership
David Lowers, President and CEO
David brings senior management skills to the Proforma employment screening company, with extensive knowledge in the security and background screening industry. He began his career in the security industry in 1980 by co-founding a local security systems installation and crime risk mitigation company, American Security Services Corporation. He led the organization to become one of the leading security companies in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
Consulting efforts in the private sector paired with a change in federal law regarding use of polygraph testing for employment purposes opened up an opportunity for David to create and introduce a line of background screening services. He went on to create one of the first ever cost effective screening services for businesses, and has remained an innovator from the very beginning of what is now a mature background screening industry.
At the forefront of an emerging industry, David started in 1989 with the development of Amsec Loss Control Service’s Pre-employment Investigation Division and then the 1992 founding of American Background Information Services (ABI), another employment background screening company. Under his leadership, ABI grew to one of the industry's leading screening firms with $10 million in annual revenue.
David is a leader in the development of industry methodology and practices to include the application of technology designed to improve background screening process management and delivery efficiency. With this, he and his management team drive innovation efforts at Proforma through exceptional business leadership and unparalleled industry knowledge.
David is a member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners and the Society for Human Resource Management.
